Tango on the Hill
The next Tango on the Hill is planned for Spring 2012.
Adelaide’s biennial Tango on the Hill is a celebration of the most delicious regional foods, lovingly prepared by a family of Italian chefs, served with local wines, and accompanied by a fabulous show featuring visiting guest artists, local dancers, live music and beautiful social Tango dancing in a venue so lovely – and unusual – it must be seen to be believed. On one night, in one place – at a farm called “Our Place at Willunga Hill”, just 45-minutes drive from Adelaide (near McLaren Vale & Mount Compass designated wine regions) - a tango feast is lovingly offered.
In 2010, to mark the tenth anniversary of Tango on the Hill, exciting additional tango activities were organized, with daytime tango workshops with visiting special guests & a unique creative writing workshop. The 2012 Tango on the Hill program again promises many beautiful regional tango experiences not to be missed.

About the Clappis Family:
The Clappis family is highly respected in gourmet circles. Enzo and Sonia, in the early 1950s, introduced diners to dishes then unknown outside the Italian community, like calamaretti fritti and sambuca liquer. They established the first restaurant in Burnside Village and later transformed the majestic Norwood Gallery villa (owned by Victoria Kratzer) into an influential Italian restaurant, now known as "Chloes". For 14 years Andrew Clappis owned and managed the Maylands Hotel, an establishment known for its fabulous food and unique atmosphere. The Maylands Hotel was a trendsetter for the industry, introducing the first coffee machine to a bar in S.A. and establishing the first non-smoking bar well before Government enforcements. Resisting the pokie frenzy, they developed a café society ambience at the Maylands.
Anna Clappis produces delicious gourmet goodies made from regional produce, for her innovative Australian Happy Foods brand. Andrew Clappis lovingly creates breads that are famous for their authentic texture and taste, in loaves or bread sticks available at the Australian Happy Foods stall at the Willunga Farmer's Market every Saturday. Andy's bread is also served in various cafes, restaurants & wineries throughout the region, and is a treat not to be missed!
Anna and Andrew Clappis share a continually evolving vision. Their Willunga hilltop home is an artwork in progress, and their function space "Our Place at Willunga Hill" is a popular venue for weddings, special events & fun draisers.
Adze Character's Jerry Keyte, Ben Keyte and Andrew Gill have undertaken the design and building work of Clappis Family homestead renovations. Recent additions include an entrance foyer and exhibition space, plus sweeping verandah & outdoor entertainment area, with views down the valley to the sea. Together the space they have created reflects the windswept beauty of the surrounding S.A. landscape: the perfect setting for an ethereal night of Tango on the Hill.
Our Place at Willunga - Exhibition Space: LANDSCAPE & MEMORY - Paintings by Adrienne Gill are currently exhibited and all works are available for sale, or can be commissioned. Contact Adrienne Gill on 0419 309 439 for more information.
